This is a new version of the so popular Planet Eclipse Ego Etek and it sure deserves your attention. It’s smaller, lighter and performs better than its predecessors. The BPS capability is up and you know that’s always a plus. There are so many new things in it that you can’t really say it is the same gun. The only thing that’s still a constant is the price. The Etek2 08 is again half the price of the new 08 edition Planet Eclipse guns, just like the Ego Etek 06 was when the 06 versions were just out. Features:
• 24+ BPS capability
• 1700+ shot efficiency
• New lighter body
• New frame with improved ergonomics and sngtch Grip
• New flatter blade trigger
• New modular electronics
• New interchangeable micro switch
• New 2008 on/off/purge with t-rail mounting (over 1″ of lateral adjustment)
• New 2008 inline regulator with aluminium piston and coil spring operation
• New LPR assembly
• New Shaft II two-piece barrel
• User-definable settings for Ball-in-Place, Eyes Off ROF, Cap ROF (uncapped in Semi 1), Debounce, and firing modes
• Uncapped Semi, Capped Semi as well as current CFOA, Millennium and PSP modes
• Triple Tru-Color LED display
• Micro-switch trigger operation
• Five adjustable firing modes
• Trigger-pull programming
• Tourney lock
• Deftek offset feed tube
• Clamping feed
• Nexus eye covers
• Break beam eyes (BBSS)
• Dual ball detents
• Fully adjustable trigger
• Pull-pin bolt release
• Integrated valve and rammer housing
• Full tool set
• Spares pack
• Eclipse gun oil
• Physical dimensions Length: 543mm
• Height: 223mm
• Width: 29.4mm
• Weight: 1.00Kg/2.2lb/35.5oz
The Etek2 costs $675 and if can’t afford the $1250 2008 edition guns, this is one good substitute. And it’s a Planet Eclipse so that’s worth something, right? You’ll really find the gun satisfying. The price is very good for a high-end marker and you should definitely consider it. You can find it in – black, ice blue, brown and gold and probably some more if you do a decent search. The divergence in the prices between the new Etek2 and the Ego Etek 06 right now is exactly 80 bucks. Think about it. Do the math and decide which one’s worth more.

The origin Ego 2008 is basically just the same like the Ego 08, but with some extras added. Even if you check the features you’ll find absolutely no differences between the guns. What’s different here is that Planet Eclipse added – 3 piece barrel kit and 2 additional barrel tips. It’s nice to have those things handy…they can significantly improve your paintball game, even if it’s only by giving you a choice of greater paintballs options. I know the features are the same, but check them out anyway:
• Ultra-Lightweight Monoform Body
• Deftek Offset Feed Tube
• Flush-Fitting Eye Covers
• Integrated Rammer Housing
• Integrated FRM
• Cure Bolt
• Zick Rammer and Rammer Cap
• Stepped Valve Chamber and Valve Guide
• High-Flow Valve
• Q-Block – New 1-Piece Dual QEV block
• Light-weight Aluminium Regulator Pistons
• Superior Coil Spring Regulator Design
• Dual Trigger Sensing Board
• Duel Instrument Grade Ball-Raced Trigger
• Magnetic Trigger Return
• Skinny-Fit Co-Moulded Rubber E-Star Grips
• T-Slot Rail Mounting System
• Major Tournament Preset Modes
• Capped and Uncapped Semi and Ramping Modes
• 9 Debounce Modes
• Direct-Acting Solenoid
• Black-on-White Transflective LCD Display
• Swivel In-Line Regulator
• Lever Operated Clamping Feed
• Shaft II 2-Piece 14” 0.693” Barrel
• On/Off/Purge System
• Lower Cyclic Mass
• Less Kick
• Quieter Shot
• Improved Efficiency
• Low Profile Break-Beam Eyes
• New Clam-Shell packaging
• Tool Tube Hex Key Set
• Weighs 1.99lbs with barrel and Battery
• 3 Piece Barrel Back Kit: .685, .689, .693
• 2 Barrel Tips: 14″ and 16″
Even though I said that the gun has not changed, when you add those 14in or 16in barrel tips it just looks sleeker than ever…simply beautiful. The Ego Origin 2008 also comes in variety of colors (again much better looking if you ask me) – purple haze (my personal favorite), mist green, sand, ice blue, sun yellow and lava orange. Any of those colors id just magnifying and your gun won’t stay unnoticed on the field. You have to be willing to pay the price though – the Ego Origin 2008 is exactly $99.95 pricier than the Ego 08, costing $1349.95. I don’t think that’s such a huge problem if you’ve already decided to spend so much money on the Ego 08. It’s up to you though. I personally favour the Origin more.

Another quite surprising gun upgrade. I really believed that the Ego 07 was a perfect gun, yet Planet Eclipse managed to upgrade it. And believe it or not there’s a significant difference between the Ego 07 and the new Ego 2008 Origin. This one’s even lighter (I guess it really is possible), has absolutely no kick, is even more air efficient, more accurate and with even sleeker design. They even managed to raise the speed level. We just have to admit this time Planet Eclipse definitely outdid themselves. Check out the gun’s features:
• Ultra-Lightweight Monoform Body
• Deftek Offset Feed Tube
• Flush-Fitting Eye Covers
• Integrated Rammer Housing
• Tool Tube Hex Key Set
• Weighs 1.99lbs with barrel and Battery
Just like the Dye DM8 the Ego 08 is holding a high price – $1250. It’s only natural for a high end marker, but still not too many people can afford it. I guess that’s good news for some as there aren’t gonna be too many people with the same gun out on the field. I really can’t add any flaws for this gun, because it’s getting even higher ratings than the Dye DM8. It’s near perfection, but I don’t want to play with that word too much, because I’m pretty sure the next Planet Eclipse gun version will be even better. The Ego 08 comes in variety of colors such as blue, olive with brown highlights, white, grey with green highlights, black with green highlights, black with white highlights. There are also a couple of limited editions – UK Flag and American Flag, but to get them you have to spend an additional $150 (total of $1400). No matter which color you decide to get you’ll be a lucky and happy person to have this gun. It won’t disappoint you.

Another Planet Eclipse creation the Ego Etek comes on a much more affordable price than the other products of this company. Let’s say it…it comes on half the price of the other markers and of course there’s a reason for that. Not that the gun is not good. It has some great features and is a gun that you can rely on. But it’s definitely not as accurate and efficient as the other PE guns. Features include:

• New 06 ETek Body. Def Tek offset feed tube, No Frame Tag slot, No Frame Tag, Body-Ported Barb Fittings for Rammer Inlets. Dual ETek Rubberised jewels, ‘Cocker Threads
• Ego style Clamping Feed Tube
• New 13″ Etek Barrel with reduced porting, reduced external machining, new formed stick-in rubber badge.
• Redesigned bolt.Much shorter version of Ego 5 Bolt. Same Ramped Top, ramped ball detent grooves, open bolt face, Drilled single hole inlet, plain shape at rear. Interchangeable with all Ego 05 and 06 bolts
• Enlarged Valve chamber offers operating pressures of 250-280 psi
• New ETek Rammer and Rammer Housing. No QEVs, but direct Fore and Aft Porting to Rammer. Does not accept any Ego 05 or 06 stock OR aftermarket rammers or rammer housings.
• New Shape bolt pin. Plain Turned Pin. Larger diameter to allow easier grip and removal
• Uses ‘06 Ego ball Detents
• Adjustable LPR. Remodelled cap. enlarge Valve chamber for low pressure operation.
• Redesigned ‘06 Etek In-Line Regulator, same internals as and Ego 5 and 6.
• New Shape Etek ‘06 Frame, larger trigger guard, single push-button, 3 x True-color LEDs, Rubberised aesthetic semi-transparent control console with EGO logo and viewing windows for LEDs, 4 x tapped bottom-line mounting holes. Spring trigger return, micro switch operation. Integrated slide rail/dove-tail
• New Trigger for ‘06 ETek. Blade profile, radius edges, thinner section, centrally mounted trigger prong for enhanced PCB contamination protection.
• Board Settings: Firing Mode, Eye Off ROF, Capped Modes ROF (Semi 1 is Uncapped), Valve Dwell, Debounce, Ball-in-Place
• New for ‘06 ETek featuring a micro-switch trigger, 3 x True-color LED, Single external push button, single set-up button, all tourney modes: Semi, Capped Semi. Capped Ramping (NPPL, PSP, Millennium compatible), and a locking facility to make tournament legal.
• On/Off/Rail System: same as system found on SL66
• Break-Beam Eyes: High efficiency break-beam eyes and advanced eye logic. Auto-off default
• Ego Style Grips
• Weight: 1.12 kg / 2.47 lb with Barrel, On/Off/Purge, Regulators, Fittings and Battery
• Length: 508mm / 20.0″ with 13″ Barrel
• Width: 28mm / 1.1″ with Eye Covers
• Height: 225mm / 8.8″ Including Feed Tube and On/Off/Purge Assembly
Ok, I said that it’s not as good as the other markers of this company but it’s definitely not something you wanna miss out for the price it goes…which is around $674.95. It definitely beats the competition of another company’s guns that have similar prices. So if you’re wondering whether to buy it…you should even just because it’s a Planet Eclipse. You can find it in different shades – urban or jungle style. The PE has really good customer support so if you ever have any problems with the gun just contact them.

Probably of all Planet Eclipse guns the Ego 07 is the greatest one…the others are amazing but this one tops them all. It’s simply beautiful. And with its weight of 941g is probably the lightest gun on the market right now. It’s also extremely thin only 26mm which you have to admit is pretty impressive. The PE Company has done a great job with this gun. They’ve just pushed it to the limits. Other features include:
•
• Ultra-Lightweight Monoform Body
• Deftek Offset Feed Tube
• Flusher-Fitting Eye Covers
• Integrated Rammer Housing
• Lightweight Rammer
• Larger Valve Chamber
• High-Flo Valve
• Swivel Stainless Banjo QEV
• Lower Operating Pressure
• Micro + Opto Switch Board
• Duel Instrument Grade Ball-Raced Trigger
• Magnetic Trigger Return
• Skinny-Fit Co-Moulded Rubber E-Star Grips
• T-Slot Rail Mounting System
• Capped and Uncapped Semi and Ramping Modes
• 9 Debounce Modes
• 07 Cure Bolt
• Direct-Acting Solenoid
• LCD Display
• Swivel In-Line Regulator
• Lever Operated Clamping Feed
• Shaft II 2-Piece 14 inch 0.693 Barrel
• 07 On/Off/Purge System
• Lower Cyclic Mass
• Less Kick
• Quieter Shot
• Same Excellent Efficiency
• Low Profile Break-Beam Eyes
• All Weights and Measurements Include 14 inch Barrel, *On/Off/Purge System , Battery etc.
That’s probably the only gun out there that has not a single weakness. It’s amazingly accurate and efficient. The maintenance is also a bless you just wipe it down after a day of paintball, clean and re-lube the bolt, clean the barrel (If needed) and you’re ready to use it again. The gun comes in dust black, blue, red and gray and it looks amazing in all of the colors. The price goes around $1250.00 and trust me for a gun like that it’s not even high enough. So if you have decided to spend those money and you’re looking for the perfect marker…I’ll spare you the search…this is the one you’re looking for.

The gun comes with a ton full of features. And if you’re looking for a really great tournament paintball marker you should definitely consider the Ego 06. The gun is really steady, ball on ball fast, has great efficiency, and is really accurate. If those things are not enough to convince you there’s another one for you – people buy this gun because compared to the others and the problems they create it’s a problem proof. And I mean it…if it actually causes any problems they are not gonna be something you can’t fix yourself. Still not convinced…check the features:
• Lower pressure operation – Larger volume of stored air in the valve chamber and in-line regulator allow operating pressure to be lowered by up to 50 psi
• Shorter Bolt – less reciprocating mass, and therefore higher cycle speeds
• Improved trigger design – New trigger loses 20% of its thickness and mass
• Improved reaction and quicker return – Centrally mounted prong improves resistance to trigger sensor contamination by light and debris
• Trigger contoured for easier, faster-for-longer string shooting
• Larger trigger guard gives more room
• Multiple trigger return options – all markers come with spring and magnetic return options. Simply adjust in magnetic or spring return mechanism.
• Integrated snatch grip – longer frame allows easier carrying and a more pleasing aesthetic design
• Integrated Dovetail Rail – On/Off mounts directly to the frame. No need for extra rail
• Rubberized Ergonomic Button Covers
• 06 Detents – larger detent base eliminates pull-thru and adds durability to the detent system
• New Body Profile – sleeker design, lower weight, and more style.
• New In-Line Regulator – longer and thinner, the new reg offers greater shooting comfort, added style and a larger internal stored volume.
• New improved circuit board for the new trigger system. *New mounting location (not interchangeable with 05 board) and new optical trigger sensors.
• Advanced Microprocessor – new microprocessor has more power, more memory and greater power saving features than those of previous models
• More Powerful Eyes – the new breech sensor hardware means that the eyes will work in virtually direct sunlight yet use only 20% of the power of the ‘05 BBSS
• Improved Battery Life – battery life extended by as much as 63%, depending upon battery type and usage. Continuous tests at 10bps resulted in a 46% improvement over previous models
• Improved Battery Terminals – new ‘gripper’ battery terminal design is more durable and provides better electrical contact than on the 05 Ego.
• Thicker waterproof coating on the circuit board
• Improved Breech Sensor Logic
• Multiple Factory Debounce Settings – trigger debounce can be set on a simple scale of 1 to 5.
• Adjustable Trigger Hysteresis – along with the traditional trigger stops, it is now possible to set the trigger activation and release points within the software
• Peak Rate-Of-Fire Indicator – two ROF indicators to choose from. Full one second sampling to give “True” number of Balls-Per-Second or Peak Rate-Of-Fire. Peak ROF is stored after use for true “bragging rights”
• Improved Training Mode – breech sensor can be switched on and off in training mode and all parameters are ‘live’ for a true simulation without the bangs
• Improved LCD Readability – a new display font and larger BBSS icon improve readability

Tired of reading? Well you have to know by now that this is probably more than you can expect from a single marker. And of course it comes with its price which is about $1125 or if you do a little search you can find it for about $1000. It does sound pricy but it’s worth every penny. And beside silver it also comes in red and blue. Maybe the only flaw is that it tends to be a little loud but once you start shooting and see how great it performs you’ll quickly forget about that. And again if you’re looking for a real marker … you should definitely consider this one.
