JT 2 Piece Barrels

The JT 2 Piece barrels is another good one out there, but certainly not my favorite. Yes, the thing has its advantages, but for the price it’s going you can absolutely find something better. Starting with the fact that it’s a two piece – you can change backs and fronts and get pretty much every length and bore size you need. The thing is also pretty accurate and quiet. And while some people claim it’s kinda hard to clean I think that’s not a big problem. The barrel self-cleans fairly well and with the right paint to bore size you may not even experience a break to clean. So here’s the info for this product before we continue:

“The entire set consists of a .690, .688 and .686 backs and 12″, 14″ or 16″ inch fronts. Available for the Angel, Autococker, & Spyder.”

As I said the barrel is not my favorite and there’s a reason why. The price you have to pay for it is about $90 and while this is not that much for the barrel itself and for the performance level you’re getting of it, the separate pieces (backs and fronts) alone can add up a lot to the price. Another thing I don’t like is the fact that the set comes with .686, .688 and .690. I think it would be much better if there was a wider range of bore sizes like .686, .689 and a .691. I just think this way the barrel would make a more versatile piece of gear. And for those who care about weight, you should know that the JT 2 Piece barrels isn’t the lightest. The back is stainless steel and that adds up to the weight quite a bit. It makes it stronger though, but still. So those are my reasons against this barrel. It’s a matter of personal preference of course, but since I’ve reviewed barrel kits just as good as this barrel, that you can get for about $150 I can’t really recommend the 2 Piece as a first option barrel.
